SR motor stall fault

  • Question Title: SR motor stall fault

What can be the reason for compressor stop IF after restarting it can run for more then 24 hours and stop.

When i turn motor by hand it is hard to do 2-3 turns and after runs easily.

Oil level is above max and after those turns even higher.

I've heard that after unload stop is not releasing oil from airend and while starting again motor drive is showing fault reason of oil lock.

Does it makes any sense?

Hello Gregor,

It sounds like your oil-stop valve is acting up.

The oil stop valve is located underneath the compressor element.

It opens only when the compressor is running, and closes when the compressor stops.

The oil-stop valve prevents oil flow-back to the element from the separator vessel (the small tank inside your compressor).

Sounds like your screw element is completely filled with oil. This could cause startup failure / overload, as it's hard to make the rotors turn/startup when they are filled with oil.

I have attached a picture of what the oil stop valve looks like, and a diagram that shows how it works/what it does.

You can buy a overhaul kit for your oil stop valve. Open it up, clean everything and replace all seals.

Good luck! Let me know if you need more info!
