Hey Cas,
Hope this email finds you well.
I have had a problem for a long time now and have tried everything I could to resolve it. I would really appreciate if you can give me your two cents as the compressor is on the island of Aruba getting qualified help is very difficult.
I have a Ingersol Rand SSR-15 screw compressor hooked up to a 40G tank.
When i turn on the machine the compressor activates and the tank starts to fill ad preasure starts to load. When the preasure switch is activated the compressor turns off this is where the problem occurs.
As soon as the compressor turns off all air in the compressor starts to release from the orface below the airfilter. I traced this backwards and the air comes from a tube coming from the solenoid valve going to the inlet valve.
The air release is quite rapid so quick that it goes from 125 psi to 0 in about 15-20 seconds and sometimes causes a little oil to come up the filter diaphram.
Steps taken:
I read your blog and replaced the MPCV with a new one from Killer Filter but the problem persists.
I have tested the following with the solenoid valve when the compressor is turned on no air flows out of the valve, but when it turns off it continuously releases air.
I have replaced the separator element in the tank.
I have no idea what can we wrong and want to avoid changing more parts unnecessarily as you can understand. I would appreciate any insight from your part.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Hashvin,
It's normal that the air inside the compressor is blown off when the compressor stops.
This is how the system is designed. But, only the air inside the compressor should blow off.
If the compressed air from the compressed air tank is also blown off, then there is a problem with the check-valve action inside the minimum pressure valve on top of the separator tank.
But again, the blow off of the internal pressure of the compressor is normal. It should stop after a while when all the pressure is blown off (maximum 30sec to a minute i guess).
Hope this helps,
Cas
Hashvin, Please check the inletvalve condition. service or replace the repair kit if require. Check the blowdown solenoid, it should be blown when compressor unload or stop.
Thanks.
