Greetings: I am having a heck of a time with my 4 Stage Poseidon P500 scuba high pressure air compressor. It is almost the same as the Bauer K20.
Anyway, I live and operate a dive business in Jamaica. There is no one to work on my compressor on the the Island, over the years I have learned about it through trial and error and from Tech people in the States and I did do some hands on training at a Compressor company in Miami. I have managed okay over the years. Now I have a problem that perplexes me.
In August, I decided to replace the first three stages valves and piston rings because it was running a little slow. I got the parts for Stage 1 and 2, but Lawrence Factor had to manufacture Stage 3, so I had to hold off on that one. I replaced the first two stages and it was running better, filling tanks in about 8 minutes, normally it will fill a dive tank in 5 minutes. Stage pressures were: 50, 150, 700, when final stage at 3000. I finally got the valves and rings and replaced them yesterday. All of a sudden my 2nd stage went bananas and went to blow off pressure 320. What the heck? Everything is installed properly. I put my old valves in to go back to normal, but it wouldn't do it. Second stage kept over pressuring. My experience is whichever stage is over pressuring, it is the following stage that is not working properly. Anyway, I have checked to make sure air is coming into and out of 3 stage. The gauges now read 80, 250+, 500, and the final stage goes to 2000 and no further. The Tech people at LF have given up. I am in a quandary. Any suggestions on what to do next? Keep in mind, I can't run to the store for parts and items and my tools are basic and limited. Thank you for any expedient assistance or tips you can give me. Steve
