I know you don't like questions asked outside the forums but it is taking too long to get a reply on there and I am worried about our Ingersoll Rand compressor it is an ep50se rotary and it has a max air discharge temp. of 227 degrees warning alarm at 217 degrees and even with the cool temperatures we have been having here in Oregon it has been running with a termperature range from 187 to 202 . So far since I started working maintenance here in feb. I have changed the oil, filter, seperator element, and I have a new blowdown valve and the other selonoid valves on order, So my question is do you have any ideas on why it runs so hot? Is that normal? any input would be appreciated thanks, Carl

Sorry for the delay, I've been too busy with so many things.. I'll give you a quick reply now...
I would consider 187 to be still within acceptable range, but it sounds like your compressor is running too hot.
Basically, make sure there's enough oil, and that the oil cooler is clean. If that's all OK, check the thermostatic valve. You can do a basic check by feeling the oil hoses from/to the cooler. Are they hot? Or just warm? If just warm, it means not a lot of oil is send through the cooler, which means the thermostatic valve is stuck/broken.
I've just finished a troubleshooting guide where this is explained as well, you can find it here: http://www.air-compressor-guide.com/troubleshoot/air-compressor-troubleshooting-guide/
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
