Compair runs all the time

  • Question Title: Compair runs all the time

Hi We have a compair type 2050 which runs all the time. The pressure switch seems to cycle a solenoid valve to allow air to the top of the pistons as if unloading the compressor when the desired pressure is reached of 8bar.

We would prefer for the compressor to cycle on and off to save electricity.

However, when the electrics are reconfigured to cycle the electrical motor, the machine will not start with 4Bar of pressure in the vessel. I have noticed that air blows back through the oil filler cap when compressor is running and not running. There is also an oil mist smell in the compressor room.

Any suggestions on what we need to be looking out for on this machine. Could the rings be worn?
