Air Delivery on the outlet port use for blowing has a mixture of oil....What is the main cause for this problem and how to correct them.

Hi Gery,

In short, these are the top causes for oil in the compressed air (for mobile screw compressors).

  1. Compressor running too hot. If temperature of the compressor is over 100 degrees Celsius, more oil will pass by the oil separator.

  2. Too high oil level

  3. Time for some maintenance. Especially the oil separator. The oil separator removes the oil from the outgoing air. When it becomes old, it becomes saturated with oil and can't separate the oil anymore.

  4. Stopping the compressor abruptly. This is how you should stop the compressor: close all air valves. Let the compressor run idle for a few minutes and than stop the compressor. If you stop the compressor in loaded condition (when it is pumping air), a lot of oil will flow out of the compressor.

These are the main causes for oil in the compressors air.
